Handsome, difficult-to-find large matching set of vintage door hardware featuring 12 solid brass Art Deco door plates and 12 beautiful 12 point crystal knobs. The Art Deco, (also called style moderne) movement originated in the 1920s and developed into a major style in western Europe and the United States during the 1930s.Its name was derived from the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, held in Paris in 1925, where the style was first introduced/exhibited. Art Deco design represented modernism turned into fashion, and included individually crafted luxury items. The intention was to create a sleek and antitraditional elegance that symbolized wealth and sophistication. So you can see, Art Deco has been very popular for years, generations actually, and is still very popular today, because of its good looks. There are many designs from the Deco era; this one is particularly handsome, in my view; it's been a classic for years and is very collectable. And Art Deco just never goes out of style; never has /never will. Door plates measure about 6-3/8" x 2"; are in good to very good condition (no dings, dents or deep scratches) with nice aged patina. Spacing between knob hole center and round part of keyhole center is 2-13/16. Ultra-pretty sparkly crystal knobs are 2+ diameter, do not spin in their collars; no obvious chips or cracks; feel nice and smooth in your hand; are not rusted/frozen on the spindle and knob centers are not all rusty.
They are beautiful and all cleaned up, so you don't have to, but not like-new or perfect; these are antiques and may show some wear. All parts all ready to install. These antiques date back to the 1920's-1940's or so, as noted above, and are as popular today as they were back in the day, if not more so. They will last forever and are never out of style. And, so much prettier, more interesting and better- quality than those cheap-looking glass reproductions you see at some retail stores. These knobs were originally used with a "mortise" lock, but you don't need one; a "tube latch" will work just fine on modern doors. You can find tube latches at some hardware stores or I can provide either tube or mortise locks for additional cost. This beautiful vintage hardware will make all your doors look special. Knobs shown are my display knobs. Actual knobs provided will be of equal or better quality. I love these oldies; and so will you. There's something for everyone.
