Antique late 19th century French. 800 solid silver & vermeil 15-piece set for tea, including twelve tea or dessert spoons, tea strainer, tea caddy spoon or scoop with a scalloped seashell shaped bowl and tongs. Featuring two-toned silver & gold design, engravings and applied flower decoration.

Each piece is monogrammed with initials'LB'. The set comes in its original brass inlaid presentation/storage box with fitted interior. The bottom of the box is mirrored. Overall in good condition for age and type with age tarnish, surface scratches, marks and a bit of wear/fading to the gold plating, mostly visible on the back of the spoon bowls.

No dents, splits or repairs to note. They are stamped with the French Minerva 2nd standard hallmark for. The tiny diamond shaped silversmith marks are a bit worn, but most likely for Léon Baujois, Paris (90 Rue Saint-Sébastien) between 1877 - 1899. The spoons are 5 13/16 inches (14,8cm) long.

The caddy spoon is 3 7/8 inches (9,9 cm) long and 1 5/8 inches (4,2 cm) wide at its widest point. The sugar tongs are 6 1/8 inches (15,5 cm) long with finial. The strainer is 2 3/8 inches (6,1 cm) wide and 13/16 inch (2 cm) tall. Combined silver weight is 242 grams. Total weight with box is 878 grams. The box is structurally sound with original hardware, working lock and key. The exterior does show a few signs of its age, including small chips, tight hairlines of age/shrinkage, surface scratches to the veneer, two missing strips on top and slight bend to the corners of the upper front wood panel. The interior fabric has some soiling, fading and stain marks. It measures 10 7/8 inches (27,6 cm) across, 7 5/16 inches (18,6 cm) back to front and is 1 11/16 inches (4,3 cm) tall.
