Antique Ornate Rim / Box Lock, Key, Doorknobs Set Russell & Erwin Pat. Here's a handsome and complete working antique set for your fine home. The set includes an ornamental rim lock with striker and newer key, two iron doorknobs with fancy rosette, and an ornate keyhole plate. The antique rim lock and knobs were manufactured by Russell & Erwin. The lock has not only the patent date of 1869, but the maker's mark as well - unusual.

The lock and striker have a cool and surprisingly modern linear design, and one side retains some of the original lacquer. Cast iron, it's designed to be mounted on the face of your door (and can be mounted on the left or right hand - just ask us how to reverse the bolt). There is a locking night-latch on the bottom.

The cast iron doorknobs were made around 1878, also by Russell & Erwin, and have an eight-fold vernacular Victorian design. We include the rod and set screws. These pieces are in very good working & aesthetic condition. Antique R&E rim lock measures 3 3/8" tall by 4 1/2" wide without catch (catch is 1 wide). Doorknobs and rosette are 2 1/4" and keyhole plate 1 1/8" by 2.

Back-set (from edge of rim lock to the center of the doorknob shaft) is 3 1/2. Distance from edge to keyhole is 2 1/8. Having proven that they will last through the years, their value and collectibility will continue to increase. We believe in the wonderful artistry and fine quality hardware produced by 19th century craftsmen.
