We spend a large part of every year in Asia and have personally selected every item that we sell. Our particular interest is in Tibet and things Tibetan and we will stand behind the authenticity of everything that we sell. SHAMAN NECKLACE A wonderful old set of 22 Shamans bells, from the Tamang(Tib:Horse warrior), a tribe who migrated over the Himalayas from Tibet & now live at high elevation on the Nepalese side.
We went on a pilgrimage to Gosaikunda lake in 1975, which is a mixed Buddhist, Hindu pilgrimage during the August full moon, & there were thousands of people there, Shamans, people on horseback, Saddhus, Tibetans, Bhutanese, Indian pilgrims & about six foreigners. The lake is at 16,000' & there are lots of leeches during the rainy season, but it was fantastic. We saw a Shaman like the one in the picture go into a trance, shaking violently & uttering what I suppose were premonitions, anyway everyone was going up afterwards & presenting him with small gifts.. The largest bells are 3" tall, the others 2" tall & make a wonderful sound like a caravan of yaks coming down a mountain, there are also a couple of little iron doodahs. For more information plus the latest on travelling in Tibet, please visit our About Me.
