Extremely rare and highly collectable Islamic silver inlaid. Highly inlaid with Arabic calligraphy and Islamic motifs all around the body surface.

Tray copper are stamped on the silver seal, decorated with alternating steps with heavy copper plates and inscriptions on copper. Each flower has overlapping geometric patterns and detailed Arabesque patterns. Kairouan, Mamluks, Islamic art in general. Silver and copper were recovered in the late 18th and 19th centuries in the Islamic world.

The process is difficult and requires several stages of perfection. After molding or reshaping in their form, the line and designs are covered.

After this difficult phase, copper and bronze are engraved and carved manually. Finally, silver and copper are finished in carved areas. So you see the magnificence of Islamic artAround the scene is a deep and complex chased and inlaid silver and copper border, comprising of many individual elements and with a punched ground. This border in turn encircled by a narrow geometric stepped chevron repeating border, with alternating copper and silver chevrons. The tray has a broad rim which has also been heavily ornamented with entwining silver or silver and copper reserves separated by a flower head.

Overall, a very good example of Cairo ware with lots of ornamentation which showcases the various different styles of this work in the one object.
