Fully Restored, rare Ireland Mfg. Pocket Door Set from the Montana Territory 1888. This massive set of Pocket Door / Sliding Door Hardware includes matching locks, key and plates.

The Ireland was only in business for 3 years so by its nature is rare, their catalog is available, wonderfully preserved to view online at the Cincinnati archive. The set was originally available for around 9.00 in 1888 or about 300 today. Fully cleaned, serviced and restored by Rustynail Restorations of Helena. This set came from the private residence of Charles and Jilia Broadwater. The house, still standing today was built next to his famously opulent resort Hotel Broadwater in 1888 and was made by the same craftsmen who competed the incredible Hotel and Plunge just across the creek. The large oak sliding pocket doors were removed from the master bedroom that led into the private dressing area on the second floor in an attempt to make the space feel larger and more open after the pocket walls were removed. The doors were kept on site in the garage and never put back into use. Around 1990 the doors were moved outside during a remodel of the wood shop and restorations of the main floor. The doors then suffered 12 years of poor tarps and extreme weather before reluctantly being given up on. The hardware was carefully removed by myself and William in 2002 then the long suffering wood doors taken away and milled down for small picture frames and art projects. The hardware sat in my shop till I finally got around to having it restored. The set was cleaned using Reverse Electrolysis, reblacked to preserve the definition and then heated treated to 600 degrees in a penetrating oil bath, hand polished with oil and sack cloth for a deep natural toning of the brass.

Internal mechanisms Were completely cleaned and restored Including new tension springs in each. This set feels and functions like factory fresh Hardware. Main key plates are 2 3/4 x 6 inch. Lock plate body is 3 1/2 x 4 x 1/2 inch.

Lock faceplate is about 1 3/4 wide and 7 1/2 long on each. Working vintage skeleton key included, however Not original to the set. Ask any questions you have.
